Clean regularly, but not excessively

Every Week: Dust and Light Clean. The best way to dust your furniture is using a vacuum cleaner. Use a soft brush head or upholstery attachment and set the vacuum cleaner to low suction. After vacuuming, use a cloth dampened with a little water to wipe over the areas that come in contact with the body (headrests, armrests and seats etc). You don’t need to use a leather cleaner every time you clean your furniture, a soft cloth dampened with a little water will do the trick.

Every 3-6 Months: Thorough Clean. Clean your furniture with Hydrating Leather Cleaner* to remove built up dirt and grime. How often you need to clean your furniture will depend on its colour and how quickly it becomes soiled. If you have light coloured furniture, or if your furniture is heavily used (particularly by pets and small children) you will need to clean your furniture more often. Do not clean your furniture more than necessary, excess cleaning causes unnecessary wear on the topcoat and even the gentlest cleaning products can cause leather to dry out if they are over used.

Protect

Protect

After every thorough cleaning (every time you use a leather cleaner) apply Protecting Leather Conditioner*. Your furniture's protective topcoat will wear with use and become less effective, so as your furniture ages it is importatnt to give it some extra protection.

Attend to spills immediately

The fresher a stain is, the easier it is to remove. You can follow the same care regime for aniline and pigmented leather, but not all stain removal products are suitable for aniline leather. Consult the Product Selection Guide for information on which stain removal products are suitable for your furniture.

Hydrating Leather Cleaner Instructions:

  1. Dampen a colour fast sponge with water. Squeeze the sponge to remove excess water.
  2. Apply Hydrating Leather Cleaner to the sponge. To prevent over wetting the leather, make sure you apply Hydrating Hydrating Leather Cleaner as a foam, not a liquid. To create foam, apply Hydrating Hydrating Leather Cleaner to the damp sponge and squeeze until the product foams.
  3. Apply the foam to the surface to be cleaned, using gentle, circular movements. DO NOT RUB OR SCRUB! Clean one small area at a time, removing any excess liquid with a clean, white cloth before moving on to the next area.
  4. Leave to dry.
  5. Once the leather is completely dry, apply Protecting Leather conditioner.

Protecting Leather Conditioner Instructions:

Always make sure your furniture is free of dirt and dust before applying Protecting Leather Conditioner.

  1. Shake the bottle well.
  2. Pour the product on to a clean, white cloth.
  3. Apply the product using circular movements. Protecting Leather Conditioner does not need to be applied thickly. Apply a thin layer evenly over your furniture. Pay particular attention to those areas that come into contact with the body, such as the headrests, armrests and seats. It is not necessary to apply Protecting Leather Conditioner to areas that do not come in contact with the body and aren't likely to be exposed to staining, e.g. the back panel of a lounge that positioned near a wall.
  4. Allow to dry. This will take about 30 minutes. To shorten the drying time, the area can be dried using a hair dryer. Hold the hair dryer at least 30 cm from the leather and dry the area using a slow sweeping motion. Take care not to over-heat or burn the leather.

Leather Strong Cleaner Instructions:

Leather Strong Cleaner is designed to remove fresh stains and heavy soiling. To clean your furniture with Leather Strong Cleaner, use the same method as you would when using Hydrating Leather Cleaner. If you are removing a stain, it is not necessary to clean the entire piece of furniture, just the stained area. Always apply Protecting Leather Conditioner after cleaning with Leather Strong Cleaner.

We strongly recommend that you check you leather for colour fastness before applying any product for the first time. To do this apply a small amount of the product to a clean, white cloth. Rub the cloth gently on a hidden area of the furniture, check the cloth to see if any colour has transferred. Allow the area to dry for 30 minutes, and check if there are any changes to the colour of the leather. To shorten the drying time, the area can be dried using a hair dryer. Hold the hair dryer at least 30 cm from the leather and dry the area using a slow sweeping motion. Take care not to over-heat or burn the leather. If you notice colour transfer or any visible changes to the leather, do use the product on that piece of furniture. Contact us for more information.
