Ink Stop

Leather Ink Stop

Ink marks are one of the most difficult stains to remove from leather. Most leather protection products cannot protect leather from ink marks, Ink Stop can. Ink Stop not only creates a protective barrier against ink, it also helps to protect leather from general soiling and common stains, including dye transfer. If used in the recommended frequency cycles, Ink Stop will prevent up to 80% of ink marks.

Because of Ink Stop’s friction reducing properties, it can be applied to pull-up leathers to help prevent scratch marks. It will also help prevent light scratching on pigmented leather. Ink Stop provides some protection from dye transfer, however for superior protection against dye transfer we recommend Leather Barrier.

Instructions:

We recommend that you apply Ink Stop to your furniture before you use it. Always make sure your furniture is free of dirt and dust before applying Ink Stop. If the furniture has been used, we recommend cleaning it with Leather Soft Cleaner before applying Ink Stop.

  1. Shake the bottle well.
  2. Pour the product on to a clean, white cloth.
  3. Apply the product using circular movements. Ink Stop does not need to be applied thickly. Apply a thin layer evenly over your furniture. We recommend applying two thin coats of Ink Stop. Allow to the product to dry completely between coats; this will take about 30 minutes. To shorten the drying time, the area can be dried using a hair dryer. Hold the hair dryer at least 30 cm from the leather and dry the area using a slow sweeping motion. Take care not to over-heat or burn the leather. It is not necessary to apply Ink Stop to areas that aren't likely to be exposed to staining, e.g. the back panel of a lounge that positioned near a wall.
  4. Allow to dry. This will take about 30 minutes. To shorten the drying time, the area can be dried using a hair dryer.

Ink Stop will need to be re-applied according to the recommendations above. Before re-applying Ink Stop, thoroughly clean your furniture with Leather Soft Cleaner

Ink stop also provides some protection from dye transfer, however for superior protection against dye transfer we recommend Leather Barrier.

We strongly recommend that you check you leather for colour fastness before applying any product for the first time. This is particularly important when applying products to sensitive leathers such as aniline and nubuck. To do this apply a small amount of the product to a clean, white cloth. Rub the cloth gently on a hidden area of the furniture, check the cloth to see if any colour has transferred. Allow the area to dry for 30 minutes, and check if there are any changes to the colour of the leather. To shorten the drying time, the area can be dried using a hair dryer. Hold the hair dryer at least 30 cm from the leather and dry the area using a slow sweeping motion. Take care not to over-heat or burn the leather. If you notice colour transfer or any visible changes to the leather, do use the product on that piece of furniture. Contact us for more information.
